Hatchery opens its doors to a fast paced New York style pitch event.

Hatchery style honesty. In ways others may be too polite to share. It's what you need to hear about your startup, covering marketing, finance, technology, business, presentation, and more.

This has been the Hatchery Dry Run process initiated to all Hatchery companies chosen for the main event. We are opening to everyone.

Review committee:
Scott Gingold - Director, Strategy at Hatchery
James Jorasch - Founder, Science House
Ken Kharbanda - Director, Strategy at Hatchery
Tereza Nemessanyi - Director, Strategy at Hatchery

What's the point?
1. A chance to pitch at the main event
2. Pitching practice
3. Honest feedback about your company

How it works:
1. RSVP to attend

2. If you would like to pitch, send materials in advance to: [masked]
- we need powerpoint and executive summary
- deadline is 1 week before the event
- file naming: company name (1 word), underscore, deck or summary
ex. hatchery_deck.ppt, hatchery_summary.doc
- put both documents in 1 email. do not send separately.

3. Day of the event, sign up at the desk for the order. It is first come, first serve. We are taking the first 8.

4. We are not waiting for the guests to arrive. Doors open at 6pm. It starts at 6:30pm-8:30pm.

5. It will be FAST!

6. There is no Q&A. We can talk after the event.

Format:
5 minute entrepreneur pitch
5 minute panel critique
booze

The Powerpoint:
Please include all these things in your slides.
1. your team
2. what your product/service does
3. what issue/pain is it looking to solve/address
4. what is the solution
5. what is the addressable market
6. what is the competitive landscape
7. any current customer/client/pilot pipeline
8. what is the revenue stream/source
9. what are your financial projections
10. how much are you looking for in investment
11. what will you do with the money, how will it be spent

Entrepreneurs who take this seriously will absolutely benefit.

Oh, and the booze should make this more interesting?

I am presenting my startup JyotiConnect.net. I am not in the dot com space. I am looking to raise $100,000. If the center of gravity in tech will move to NYC, it will not be because of the dot com space. Silicon Valley won that round. Get over it.

Now that I understand this venue is for people at any point in refining their pitches, I think it is a wonderful way to demonstrate what does/does not work. Panel's comments and talks were nicely matched to the presenters' needs and expertise. Nice focus and time management

I thought that having Tereza Nemessanyi, Ken Kharbanda and James Jorasch on the panel created a very conscientious atmosphere and feed back style, rather than the usual contentious atmosphere usually encountered at events like these. The benefits to this is that the atmosphere facilitated dialog which was very helpful, educational and inspirational. This is turn, left me thinking much more positively about the prospects of pitching. Normally I dread the idea!

Good advice by panelists. Well organized. Small company presenters were pretty unprepared.

Panelists offered good feedback for the presenters (some of which seemed way too early to bring their idea to market).

Last 3 Presentations were so unprepared and so unlike any pitch that I can imagine making for funding that I, in the audience, got no benefit at all from them. Perhaps the presenter gained valuable insights, but I think the rest of the audience shared my view. The four lessons were good. Stuff that needs reinforcement from time to time. The questions afterward were good also. Too bad we were so strapped for time. Yao, it was a fantastic job you did as moderator. I look forward to seeing you at future Hatchery meetups. Perhaps, within the next 1-2 months, I will be ready to present. Your work was appreciated.

Worst panelists I've ever seen at a Hatchery event- I know this is about practicing but the quality was terribly low. It was like a role play of bad pitching. Panelists were working hard to make lemonade. They get purple hearts.
